Pajhota Movement (पझौता आंदोलन) – Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh

The Pajhota Movement was an important peasant uprising in the princely state of Sirmaur during 1942–43. It was directed against feudal exploitation, excessive taxation, and the begar (forced labour) system. The movement reflects the political awakening in the hill states of present-day Himachal Pradesh during India’s freedom struggle.
