The Rajya Sabha on Thursday took up short duration discussion on the serious effects of global warming and the need for remedial steps to tackle it. Initiating the discussion in the Upper House, Tiruchi Siva of DMK expressed concern over global warming saying it is contributing factors for climate change. Other members who participated in the discussion said the government should take a holistic approach by coordinating across various ministries and bringing agencies together to tackle the effects of global warming. The Government is likely to respond to discussion in the Upper House on Monday next week.
